How to Hide Recent Apps from the Mac Dock
It is easy and simple to remove the recently used apps from the dock area of your mac.
You can either remove the recently used application only or disable the feature of recent apps in the dock permanently until you turn it on again.
Steps to Disable Recent Apps from the Mac Dock
Here, I would guide you to disable the show recent apps on the dock feature on your Mac. If you enable this feature, the recent apps (any app that you use) would no longer be visible on the dock after you quit the application.
Step 1: Go to System Preferences on your Mac.
There are different ways to go to the system preferences as mentioned below.
Click on the Apple Icon on the Top Left and then Select System Preferences.
Look for System Preferences in the dock of your Mac and open it.
Search for System Preferences in the Spotlight Search.
Step 2: In the System Preferences, go to Dock & Menu Bar by clicking on it as shown below.
Step 3: In the Dock & Menu Bar, Untick Show Recent Applications in Dock as shown below.
Step 4: Now, Close System Preferences and other recent applications. The recent apps would now disappear from the dock making your dock Clean & Tidy.
With the above steps you would successfully be able to disable the recent apps feature from your Mac. The recent apps would now no longer remain in the dock after you close the application.
Show Recent Apps in the Mac Dock
If you later wish to see the recently used applications on your dock, you can enable this feature back again.
To enabe this feature you can follow the steps as mentioned above and then Tick Show Recent Application in Dock.
Follow the pathway as System Preferences >> Dock & Menu Bar >> Tick Show Recent Application in Dock.
Steps to Remove Recent Apps from Dock Manually
If you don’t want to completely disable the Recently Used Application from your Mac Doc, but want to remove some recently used applications from the doc, you can remove them manually.
To remove the recently used application from Dock Manually, you can follow the steps mentioned below.
There are two different ways to remove the recently used application from the dock manually.
Method 1: Drag and Remove
You can easily remove the recent apps from the dock by dragging it towards the desktop.
Drag the application from the dock towards the screen and then leave it when you see Remove as shown below.
Method 2: Remove with Few Clicks
For this method, you should first close the application.
Now, Right Click on Your Mouse or trackpad (the substitute of right click).
Go to options, by Clicking on Option from the menu.
From the available option, Click on Remove from Dock to remove the application from the dock.
