Step 2: If you want to like a story, Tap on the Heart Icon on the bottom as shown below.

How to Unlike Stories On Instagram
If you’ve mistakenly liked a story of someone and you now want to undo your like, then you can do it easily by tapping on the heart icon back again.
The great thing about Instagram likes is that a user is not notified of the likes unless he views them by themself. Hence, the user would not be able to know that you’ve liked and unliked again.
Why is Instagram Story Like Feature Not Available?
If you are not able to like stories on Instagram, you need not worry. Here are the reasons and the solution for the same.
You might be using the older version of the Instagram application. Make sure that your Instagram application is updated to the latest version.

The Instagram Story Like Feature has been rolled out recently and may not be available in all the regions. Hence, if you are not able to get the Instagram Story Like option, then probably the feature is not available in your region. But, you need not worry as this feature would soon be made available in all the regions.
How to See Your Instagram Story Likes
The Likes of Instagram Stories unlike the posts and reels won’t be notified in the Likes section.
If you want to know who has liked your Instagram Story, then you need to open your Instagram Story and Tap on Activity (Seen By). A heart icon would be visible in the profile icon of the user if he or she has liked your story.
The likes on Stories of Instagram are private and no one except you would be able to view them and the number of likes is not shown. If you wish to know, you’ve to count them manually.
