TikTok lets you choose between a private or a public account. With a private profile, no one would be able to see your videos, bio, following, and followers lists without your approval. Additionally, TikTok will prevent other people from downloading, duetting, or stitching your clips if your account is private.
Having a private TikTok profile will cause your videos to get less exposure from the audience. If you want to share your content with a bigger audience, you need to switch your account back to public. It will help you get much more interaction and feedback on TikTok.
Here’s how you can switch your private account to public.
How to Make Your TikTok Account Public
1) Open the TikTok app and go to your profile page by tapping the Profile tab in the bottom right corner of the screen.
2) Tap on the three lines in the top-right of the screen.
3) Choose Settings and privacy.
4) Tap on Privacy.
5) Disable the Private account option.
You have successfully switched to a public account. Note that you can also use the above steps to make your account private again. You only have to enable the Private account option in 5) above.
If you only want to make a particular video public while keeping your account private, follow the below steps.
1) Open the TikTok app and go to your profile page by tapping the Profile tab.
2) Find the video you want to make public.
3) Tap on the three dots at the bottom right of the video and select Privacy Settings.
4) Tap on the “Who can watch this video” option. To make your video public, select Everyone.
