Each person experiences this, and despite searching through your message history, you can’t find the specific message you’re looking for. You removed it for some reason or another. You want it back now, though.
Facebook messages that have been deleted can be recovered by downloading them or looking through past email notifications.
If you use Android, you can also find them by looking in the Messenger app’s cache.
You can also look over your old messages or request a copy from the person you were messaging.
A Facebook message that has been deleted is permanently lost, at least in terms of Facebook Messenger. However, there are steps you can do to retrieve those communications from different sources.
Here are a few techniques you can use to retrieve deleted Facebook messages and backup your messages to ensure that you never lose them again:
How To Recover Deleted Facebook Messages
You might be able to obtain such messages by using the following techniques:
Check your archived conversations
Since Facebook always saves a copy of your archived chats, if you archived the messages rather than deleting them, you can easily restore them.
- Launch the desktop, browser, or mobile version of Messenger.
- In the search bar located in the app’s conversations area, type the name of the person you were speaking with.
- After that, just click or tap on their name to view the entire discussion and open it.
If you don't want particular Messenger discussions to appear in your inbox but aren't sure whether to remove them, think about archiving the messages rather than deleting them.
Request a copy of the message or conversation from the receiver
You can request the receiver of the text the copy of messages sent by way of screen recording or screenshots.
Only you have the ability to delete a message. The person you’re speaking to will still be able to see it, so if they didn’t delete it on their end as well, they can assist you in filling in the blanks.
Check your Email to see, if you’ve received the Messages
Verify your email to see whether Facebook messages were delivered there.
This only functions if your account’s email notifications are all turned on. You should be able to look for the chat or message in your email account if it is enabled.
Use the file manager on Android
Those erased messages can still be on your smartphone if you have Messenger installed and are using an Android device. Any Android file manager can be used to access it, and if you don’t already have one installed, you can discover a tonne of them on the App Store.
- On your Android device, launch the file management application.
- Open Internal Storage and go to com.facebook.katana > fb temp.
- You can hopefully find your deleted mails in this section of your recent history of communications.
No file app will be able to restore your lost Facebook messages if you are using an iOS smartphone. But you can achieve it by utilising a recovery programme.
Save the data from your Facebook account
If you never want to lose any of your Facebook data, including your messages, you should back it up.
- Open your Facebook settings in the desktop app or browser.
- Click Download your information under the Your Facebook Information link in the left sidebar.
- Check to see if you’ve picked a date range in the final dropdown under the Select file options section.
- Click Deselect All under the Select information to download header, then recheck the box next to Messages to only download your messages.
- Request a download by scrolling all the way down to the Start your download header. Once the file is ready for viewing, Facebook will send it to you.
